As I am new to this, before I call AMID for a consultation, I would like ask some newbie questions. First, my overall need - I want to ship a small sailboat LCL from the Czech republic and import to the US (probably NYC area). The sailboat would be in a box, roughly 4.5M x 2M x .75M, say about 120 Kg.

This is a new purchase from the boatbuilder in CR. Originally he was going to handle all the shipping himself (he does this regularly to other countries) but the company his firm picked only delivered to buisnesses, not individuals, and it seems too complicated for him to figure it out. I would drive to NYC and plan to pick up the boat when it was delivered and cleared through customs.

I need one of two services - either a firm that can arrange and handle logisitics on all the shipping (he could probably deliver the boat-in-a-box to a terminal in CR), or keep his shipping arrangements with Kuehne + Nagel and have AMID do whatever logistics they need to do to allow me to receive the shipment as an individual. I'm afraid this international shipping business is not for the feint of heart.

So my questions -

First - I can't find a rate estimator app on the AMID web site that allows the US to be a destination rather than an origin. Am I missing something?

Second - dow AMID work with individuals like me?

Third - I think AMID can arrange all the shipping themselves (is this true). But as an option, can they work with K&N (for a fee, of course) such that K&N delivers "to a business", and I can then claim the boat myself?
